Application : Molecular sieves have been used in the Friedel-Crafts alkylation of indoles with nitroalkenes. They may be employed as an additive in decarboxylative coupling reactions and for storing the organic solvents for sorption isotherm studies.

General description : Molecular sieves are in the form of the rods having pore diameter of 3Å. They are widely employed as desiccant (a substance that can absorb water). Molecular sieves are reported to increase the rate of the Pd(OAc)₂/pyridine-catalyzed oxidation of alcohols. Since they have the ability to act as a Brønsted base.
